No Punishment Enough for this Mother

How do you propose to punish a mother who abuses her 8-month old son in cahoots with her lover, batters him and finally kills him? Life imprisonment, judicial execution or stoning alive? Unfortunately, going by past history, the mother even if found guilty is more likely to walk free, at most after a couple of years.

On Wednesday night, the battered child of Noor Zaadhaa, 28 years, Silver Leaf / S. Hithadoo, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital with signs of sexual abuse and what would turn out to be fatal injuries. The child died next morning.

The police have arrested three people in connection with the murder, including the child's mother (the buruga clad woman in the photo above), her 46 year old lover Mohammed Waheed, Gold Wish, Male, and an undisclosed person. The three had reportedly tested positive for opiate drugs.

Such heinous crimes have become so common in our (supposed to be 100% Muslim) country that the public's sense of outrage is numbed. After being the topic of hot gossip for a couple of days, this story –like all other such stories –will soon fade from our collective memory.

These things are happening becasue we are deviating from the true path of islam. Allah forbids us to do things. let us all follow his true religion.

...so this is what a burugaa is about.
Topless women and prostituties have more morals than these vampires.

This worse than baby Peter - which caused a national outrage in England. But thats not so in Maldives.

A society like Maldives ought to examine its concious.

Thank you at least for putting up thins on your blog.

So that it'll balance her scale of good and bad deeds.

we dont care whether she wears brugaa or jangiyaa,We are outraged by the henious act. I Believe the root casue of evil is the drugs. Of coz they were intoxicated and insane when they committed this henious act.Even the female King Cobra, leaves her nest as soon as the baby cobras hatch from eggs as she has the insticnt that her long period of looking after the eggs wihtout food will make her to devour her own babies. I wonder whther this mother has even lost her motherly instict. Its an act which is not even acceptable by the animal instincts, let alone the human instincts.
I would say there has been previous cases of intoxicated parents abusing their infants, but murder is never heard off.
I wonder whther Maldives is on the brink of a doom from our social values and morals.peadophiles, murderers, rapists, robbers, sociopaths, what else.....

Makdivians are insane, acts being committed there are nauseating. Are they Muslims or civilised for modern world?
They cant even think of them as a nation. And then their laziness will see them secondary citizens in their homeland soon.
The society didnt react when boys were murdered on street n to this act there wasnt even a cry, which goes to show how disesed Maldivian minds are

Comment at 9.28, shows people would use Islam justify anything.

Please dont use the innocent baby to justify Islam. That is totally the wrong context.

First you are for Burugaa. Now we know what Burugaa is, you change your message.

It's not only them who needs to be punished, the whole Maldivian society shares the crime by closing their eyes on such atrocities. Are you animals, Maldivians??...do you have hearts????....how can you go on with your daily choruses as if nothing had happened????

mother must have been given a test dose of morphine and then wen she was addicted she must hav been used by these guys!!!

I think a psychologist/psychiatrist should talk to the mother, and do a thorough assessment.

This could help us get a better idea of how a mother gets to the point where she would murder her own creation, which I believe, can assist the authorities in taking preventative action against such crimes

The baby was never treated in ICU as Afeef is suggesting here according to sources who tried to help this baby survive. Infact it was in the emergency room (2 days the baby was there) before the baby died.

Why was no ICU bed given to this baby? Were there any ICU bed available anywhere else in the country?

Remember the case of the Islam teachers who abused little children at Iskandhar School? We must all be very aware of these people posing as very "religious and therefore good". The burugaa is a big cover.

State minister for Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that the incident is a disgrace to the entire country. He does not realize it is a shameful failure of the entire group of Islamic Shaiks of which he is a prominent member. Maldives has been relying on these Shaiks to foster moral values, so they must take the responsibility for the lack of morals. When student’s lack discipline don’t we blame the teachers and the school?

Nobody will ever know what dark thoughts lurk behind a woman's buruga.

The only time I remember being proud to be a Maldivian was after the last presidential election, when majority of the people voted to oust dictator Gayoom. But that sense of pride and gratefulness that we as a people have enough sense to do good and what is best for us and our children was short-lived. Contrary to "Dhivehinnah veethee fakhuruveri vamaa", there is nothing to be proud of. We, as a people have failed to stop the drug problem that has infested us. We as a people have let lose amongst us pedophiles, murders, and child molesters. We as a people have let our society go from bad to worse right in front of our eyes as if we are not responsible for what it has become.
It is not some one else's problem to come and fix.
It is high time that we took action to choose good, do good and be good.

(My prayers are with the little infant who was brutally abused and murdered at the hands of his mother)

This is yet another reason why we need to return to Islam and restore the Sharia in this country. We deviate from what Allah has told us and yet we still wonder why such things happen.

Those guilty of this brutal murder should be publicly beheaded. Maybe then people will begin considering what crimes they commit

this where people find it difficult to say where's the right of that women?, i'll advice to so called freedom and human rights lovers, there are punishment for certain individuals who commit sinful acts like these.
people tend to act like this when they knows that they can get away with all these crimes and walk on the road, drugs is every where in male, gang fights, gang robberies, killing, dr. waheed now that your in police integrity commission please do better than this to curb this menace from our society, please don't tell me that lady is mentally sick and don't take her to rehab, thank you , and tell to mr president this is the same raaje where dictator maumoon was ruling we haven't seen any diffirence other than not arresting political pathetic people like umar naseer, the drugs are there dealers are there , killing etc ...
